About Patterns
What yarn do I need to make your patterns?
All of the patterns specify what yarn was used to make the sample, however, you don't need to use that same yarn. The yarn sizes in my patterns are the ones given in the Crochet and Knitting Standards by the Craft Yarn Council. You can find them on yarnstandars.com. The pattern will always specify the category name and size (for example: fingering, size 1). If this doesn't work for you, can always look for a yarn that has similar specifications to the one used for the sample.
How do I know which size to make?
The patterns come in different sizes, most of them XS - 5XL. In the Sizes and Measurements section of the pattern, you can find the measurements of the finished item or the equivalents to bra size. Choose the size that gets closer to yours or that matches your an item of clothing that you really like. Keep in mind that the positive or negative ease included in the pattern is just a suggestion and you get to choose how loose or tight you want the finished garment to be.
How important is gauge?
Gauge is very important. It tells us how many stitches and rows you can fit in a 10x10 cm square. When stitches are bigger, you can fit less. When they are smaller, you can fit more. My patterns are designed based on this number, so when your gauge is off, the measurements of the final garment will also be off. The best way to check your gauge is to make a gauge swatch. You should cast on or chain at least one and a half times the number of sts of the gauge amount. For example, if the gauge is 12 sts x 10 rows, you should ch or CO at least 18 sts. Then work as many rows as necessary to make a square. Measure a 10x10 cm square inside your swatch and check that the number of sts and rows is correct. If it's off, try tightening or loosening your tension by working with different needles or hook. Blocking your swatch is just as important as blocking your finished project! You can learn more about gauge in THIS video.
What in the world is blocking and how important is it?
Blocking is a great way to finish a garment or accessory. It relaxes fabric and allows them to take better shape. To learn ALL about blocking, please watch this video!
What language are your patterns in?
Not all patterns are translated to languages other than English, but most are. I have patterns translated into Spanish, French, German, Swedish, Portuguese and Norwegian. Please read the pattern description to make sure that it's in the language you want before purchasing.
Can I sell items made with your patterns?
The patterns are for personal use. I do not authorize the sale or distribution of the pattern itself or the pictures in it. The finished item may be sold or distributed. However, I ask for it to be recognized as a Nomad Stitches design. Thank you
About Downloads
How do I open a zip folder?
Most downloads come in the format of a zip folder - these are compressed folders where you will find ALL of the PDF versions of the pattern. To open a PDF, you first need to open the zip folder and extract the files. Here’s a useful tutorial to open zip folders in many devices.
My download expired. Can you please send it to me again?
All download links expire after 24 hours of the first time they’re clicked. If you would like to download your file again but the link has expired, a new window will open with a link for you to automatically request a new download link. You don’t need to email me, but I am happy to help!
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
